Bluejacket Brief: Speech Champion Makes School History
History was made this spring at Cambridge-Isanti Schools as Lilia Osei-Dankwah became the school’s first-ever state speech champion.
After earning third place at the state Speech tournament last year, Lilia returned for her senior year determined to continue growing as a performer and leader. She finished her remarkable speech career at the top, winning first place at the Minnesota State High School League Speech Tournament and cementing her place in Bluejacket history.
But for Lilia, some of the most meaningful moments went beyond the awards.
“This year I am very happy with the friends I got to get closer to, along with the achievements I made in Speech, Theater, and One-Act,” Lilia shared. “Becoming a speech captain, winning the state speech tournament, and earning lead roles in Theater and One-Act helped me expand my horizons and discover more about acting and performance.”
Lilia also shared appreciation for the Cambridge-Isanti teachers, coaches, teammates, and her family and friends, who helped support her along the way.
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to all of my amazing coaches in Speech, especially Mr. Orvik and Mr. Faust,” she said. “They spent so much time helping me practice, improve, and stay confident throughout the season. I’m also thankful for my teammates, my parents, and everyone who came to watch my speeches over the last five years.”
Lilia has been involved in multiple activities at Cambridge-Isanti High School through speech, theater, and one-act. She was also selected as part of the 2025–26 Homecoming Court, reflecting the respect and admiration she has earned from her peers and staff alike.
As she prepares for her next chapter at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, Lilia plans to major in Psychology while minoring in Performing Arts.
Cambridge-Isanti Schools is incredibly proud of Lilia and the example she has set as a Bluejacket. Her accomplishments reflect the talent, perseverance, and commitment of students across the district and serve as an inspiration for future students to follow.
